After breakfast, embark on a day excursion to the stunning Tsomgo Lake, located approximately 40 kilometers from Gangtok. This oval-shaped lake, situated at an elevation of 3,780 meters with an average depth of 50 feet, is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and is home to the Brahminy duck and several migratory birds. On your journey, you'll make a stop at Kyongnosla, where you can take in the cool, refreshing air and enjoy the picturesque scenery surrounding the lake. After soaking in the natural beauty of Tsomgo Lake, continue your journey to the Baba Mandir, located 17 kilometers beyond the lake. This revered shrine is dedicated to the memory of an Indo-China soldier and offers a glimpse into the area's rich history. You have the option to extend your excursion to Nathula Pass, which is an additional cost. Nathula, located at 4,140 meters, is approximately 20 kilometers from Tsomgo Lake and requires a special permit. The journey to both Nathula and Baba Mandir is the same for the first 16 kilometers, at which point the road diverges: the right path leads to Baba Mandir, while the left takes you to Nathula. Please note that Nathula permits are confirmed only 24 hours prior to the journey and are subject to availability as they are allotted by lottery. Nathula is closed to tourists on Mondays, and organizing permits at the last minute is not feasible. A clear window of 72 hours with proper documentation is required to process the permit. In case the permit is confirmed by Sikkim Tourism and you are unable to visit due to unforeseen circumstances (such as landslides, heavy rainfall, VIP movement, or health issues), there will be no refund issued. Return to Gangtok in the evening for an overnight stay at your hotel, where you can relax after a day filled with stunning landscapes and cultural experiences. Enjoy the captivating sights and experiences that this beautiful region has to offer!
